"연간 1천500t 규모 희토류 최장 12년간 국내 기업에 공급"

(서울=연합뉴스) 한지훈 기자 = 한국수출입은행은 호주 희토류 광산 개발 사업에 프로젝트파이낸싱(PF) 방식으로 총 1억5천만달러를 지원한다고 2일 밝혔다.

이번 금융 지원은 대출과 보증 각 7천500만달러로 구성됐다.

호주 희토류 광산 개발사업은 현지 기업인 아라푸라사(社)가 호주 중북부 노던준주의 앨리스 스프링스 인근 지역에서 희토류를 개발하는 프로젝트다.

수출입은행은 PF를 계기로 전기차와 신재생에너지 제조 공정에 필요한 희토류의 일종인 '네오디뮴-프라세오디뮴(NdPr) 산화물'을 연간 1천500t 규모로 최장 12년 동안 국내 기업에 공급할 수 있을 전망이라고 밝혔다.

수출입은행 관계자는 "호주는 미국 인플레이션 감축법(IRA) 적격 국가로,이번 희토류 확보는 국내 전기차 제조업체들의 경쟁력을 높이고 판로를 확장하는 계기가 될 수 있을 것"이라고 말했다.

이와 별도로 윤희성 수출입은행장은 전날 서울 여의도 본점에서 마틴 퍼거슨 호주-한국경제인협회장,제프 로빈슨 주한 호주대사,마카오 블랙잭아라푸라 등 호주 6개 기업 경영진을 만나 양국 간 광물·탈탄소 공동사업 협력 방안을 논의했다고 수출입은행 측은 전했다.
