관세청은 올해 들어 출·입국할 때 외화를 몰래 휴대해 반출·반입하다가 적발된 사례가 늘어 단속을 강화하기로 했다고 밝혔습니다.

올해 들어 지난달까지 5개월간 관세청에 적발된 외화 밀반출·반입 금액은 204억 원으로 지난해 같은 기간(138억 원)보다 47.8% 증가했습니다.

적발된 건수는 363건으로 7.7%(26건) 늘었습니다.

관세청은 공항만 현장에서 외화 밀반출입 단속을 강화합니다.

사용 목적을 여행 경비로 신고한 경우에도 수출입·외환 자료,오늘 야구 롯데 두산의심 거래 정보 등을 바탕으로 사후 검증을 진행합니다.

여행 경비로 가장한 가상자산 구매 자금이 집중 검증 대상입니다.

지난해 여행자가 출국할 때 세관에 여행 경비로 신고하고 반출한 외화가 926억 원이었습니다.

관세청은 이중 상당수가 가상자산 구매 자금일 것으로 보고 있습니다.

올해 들어 지난달까지 반출한 외화는 506억 원입니다.

외국환거래법에 따르면 출입국 때 직접 들고 반출·반입하는 외화 금액이 1만 달러가 넘으면 세관에 신고해야 합니다.

출국 때 외화가 1만 달러를 넘는 경우 유학생이거나 해외 체류자이면 지정외국환은행에서 받은 외국환신고필증을 제출해야 합니다.

입국 때 외화가 1만 달러를 넘으면 여행자 휴대품신고서에 신고해야 합니다.

자금의 출처가 불분명하면 해당 자금의 반출입이 제한될 수 있다고 관세청은 설명했습니다.

관세청은 외화 밀반출입 규정을 몰라 적발된 경우에도 금액에 따라 과태료나 벌금 등이 부과된다며 외화 반·출입 신고를 철저히 해달라고 당부했습니다.
