(서울=연합뉴스) 전재훈 기자 = 세계 각국의 해양 관련 고위 인사들이 해양 오염,기후변화,지속 가능한 어업 등을 논의하는 해양 분야 국제회의가 내년 4월 부산에서 열린다.

해양수산부는 18일 열린 국무회의에서 '제10차 아워 오션 콘퍼런스'(OOC·Our Ocean Conference) 개최 계획을 보고했다.

우리나라는 지난 2022년 6월 포르투갈 리스본에서 열린 제2차 유엔(UN) 해양 콘퍼런스에서 제10차 OOC 개최 국가로 선정된 바 있다.

이에 따라 제10차 OOC는 아워 오션(Our Ocean),아워 액션(Our Action)을 슬로건으로 내년 4월 28일부터 사흘간 부산 해운대구 벡스코에서 개최된다.

OOC는 해양 오염,해양보호구역,기후변화,지속 가능한 어업,해양 경제,파워볼 외국인해양 안보 등 6가지 의제를 두고 논의하는 대표적인 해양 분야 국제회의다.

아울러 불법 어업 근절,폐어구 저감,공해상 해양생물다양성 협약 비준 등 주요 현안별로 글로벌 협력 체계도 운영되고 있다.

OOC는 지난 2014년 미국 워싱턴DC에서 처음 열린 뒤 칠레(2차),미국(3차),몰타(4차),파워볼 외국인인도네시아(5차),노르웨이(6차),팔라우(7차)에서 개최됐다.이후 작년 파나마(8차),파워볼 외국인올해 그리스(9차)에 이어 내년 우리나라 부산에서 열린다.

OCC에는 100여개국 정상급 대표단과 400여개 국제기구,비영리단체 등 1천여명의 해양 분야 오피니언 리더들이 참석한다.

각국 해양 관련 고위 인사들은 내년 OOC에서 지속 가능한 해양을 목표로 '해양 디지털'을 특별 의제로 선정해 논의할 계획이다.

해수부는 OOC 개최를 통해 우리나라 해양 수산 네트워크를 전 세계로 확대하고 해양 규범 선도자로서의 위상 강화를 기대한다고 밝혔다.

강도형 해수부 장관은 "콘퍼런스를 성공적으로 개최하고 해양 규범 실천을 주도하는 해양 수산 분야 글로벌 중추 국가로서 우리나라 위상을 강화해 나가겠다"고 말했다.
