2024년 제12차 '일본군 위안부 피해자 기림의 날' 기념식과 추모 문화제가 14일 낮 12시 중구 오오극장에서 열린다.(사)정신대할머니와함께하는시민모임(이하 시민모임)의 주최로 열리는 이번 행사에는 대구 출신 일본군 위안부 피해자 이용수 할머니와 영화·연극·음악 분야 예술인 5명이 참여해 뜻깊은 자리가 될 예정이다.

'일본군 위안부 피해자 기림의 날'(이하 기림의 날)은 故 김학순(1922~1997) 할머니가 1991년 8월 14일 기자회견을 통해 일본군 위안부 피해 사실을 최초로 공개한 날이다.해당 문제를 국제사회에 알리는 계기가 된 날이기도 하다.

민간에서 진행하던 '기림의 날'은 2017년 12월 '일제하 일본군위안부 피해자에 대한 보호·지원 및 기념사업 등에 관한 법률' 개정안이 통과되며 최초 증언한 날을 기념해 국가기념일로 지정된 바 있다.

이번 행사에는 1부 기념식에 이어 '예술로 대구' 사업 참여 예술인들이 2부 추모 문화제를 거행한다.'홀씨가 꽃을 피우다'라는 주제 아래 설성원의 영상,박금현의 성악,라운드카지노이혜정의 2인극,라운드카지노이상명의 연출과 성창제의 연기로 만들어진 극을 통해 추모와 희망의 메시지를 전달한다.

한편,라운드카지노시민모임은 2022년부터 '예술로 대구'의 협업 기관으로 참여했고,3년 연속 대구의 예술인들이 기림의 날을 함께 하고 있다.
