(평택=연합뉴스) 이영주 기자 = 항공권 투자사기를 벌여 22명으로부터 468억여원을 가로챈 전 여행사 대표가 재판에 넘겨졌다.

수원지법 평택지청 형사1부(황수연 부장검사)는 3일 특정경제범죄 가중처벌 등에 관한 법률 위반 및 유사수신행위의 규제에 관한 법률 위반 등 혐의로 A(47) 씨를 구속기소 했다.

경기도 평택에서 여행사를 운영하던 A씨는 2018년 5월부터 2023년 10월까지 "항공권을 저렴한 가격에 미리 구매한 후 높은 가격에 되팔아 그 차액으로 수익을 내주겠다"는 식으로 장기간 피해자들을 속여 금원을 편취한 혐의를 받는다.

조사 결과 A씨는 피해자들에게 말한 것처럼 항공권을 사전에 대량으로 구매한 사실이 없는 것으로 드러났다.

그는 피해자들의 투자금을 다른 피해자에 대한 원금 및 수익금으로 지급하는 이른바 '돌려막기' 수법으로 범행한 것으로 조사됐다.

검찰 관계자는 "아직 확인되지 않은 추가 피해자들이 있는지 면밀히 살필 것"이라며 "서민경제를 파탄에 이르게 하는 유사 수신 등 불법행위에 대해 엄정하게 대응할 것"이라고 밝혔다.
