[파이낸셜뉴스] 국가유산청은 전북 김제 망해사 일대를 자연유산 명승으로 지정한다고 10일 밝혔다.

최근 자연유산위원회는 회의에서 '김제 진봉산 망해사 일원'을 명승 지정 안건을 가결했다.

'김제 진봉산 망해사 일원'은 오랜 역사를 간직한 망해사와 만경강,서해바다가 조화되어 아름다운 경치를 자랑하는 명승지로 알려져 있다.

특히,메이플월드 본인인증바다를 바라보는 사찰이라는 뜻인 망해사(望海寺)라는 명칭에서 알 수 있듯이 예로부터 서해로 해가 저무는 경관이 아름다운 명소로 이름난 자연유산이다.

새만금 방조제 조성으로 담수화된 만경강 하구는 우리나라 대표 철새도래지이자 다양한 생물 서식처로 생물학적 가치가 높고,메이플월드 본인인증간척 역사와 담수화 과정을 보여주는 중요한 장소로서 학술적 가치도 갖춘 것으로 평가된다.
