조규일 경남 진주시장이 17일 우주항공청을 방문해 윤영빈 우주항공청장,2017년 5월 30일 야구 경기일정노경원 우주항공청 차장 등과 면담을 갖고 우주항공청 개청을 축하했다.

조 시장은 "우주항공청의 성공적인 안착을 위해 적극적으로 지원하겠다"고 약속하고 "우주항공청이 대한민국의 세계 5대 우주강국으로의 도약을 위해 전념할 수 있도록 진주시도 여러 분야에서 도움을 드릴 수 있도록 노력하겠다"고 말했다.

윤영빈 청장은 "우주항공청 개청을 환영해주신 진주시민 분들에게 진심으로 감사드린다"며 "앞으로 우주항공산업 발전과 함께 지역과 함께 성장하는 기관이 될 수 있도록 하겠다"고 밝혔다.

시는 지난 5월 27일 개청한 우주항공청이 성공적으로 안착하고 직원 및 가족들이 지역에 정착할 수 있도록 다양한 지원방안을 마련하고 있다.

또한 이미 추진하고 있는‘KAI 회전익 비행센터 구축‘AAV 실증센터 구축사업‘우주환경시험시설 구축사업‘초소형위성 개발사업’등을 기반으로 지역의 우주항공산업 발전을 위하여 다양한 사업을 건의할 계획이다.
