대한의사협회(의협)가 6월 18일 집단 휴진을 강행하면서 서울 여의도에서 대규모 집회를 열었다.

임현택 의협 회장은 이날 서울 여의도에서 열린‘의료 농단 저지 총궐기대회’에서 정부가‘3대 요구안’을 수용하지 않으면 6월 27일부터‘무기한 휴진’에 돌입한다고 밝혔다.3대 요구안은 △의대 정원 증원안 재논의(2025학년도 포함) △필수의료 정책 패키지 쟁점 사안 수정·보완 △전공의·의대생 관련 모든 행정명령과 처분 즉각 소급 취소다.이날 총궐기대회에는 의대생,전공의,토트넘 홋스퍼 fc 선수단교수,토트넘 홋스퍼 fc 선수단개원의,봉직의 등 의사 1만2000명(경찰 추산)이 참여해 의대 증원 등에 반대 목소리를 냈다.

앞서 서울대 의대 산하 4개 병원(서울대병원·분당서울대학교병원·서울특별시보라매병원·강남센터)은 응급실 등 필수부서를 제외한 529명(54.7%) 교수들이 집단휴진에 들어갔다.
