오늘 아침 인천공항에 착륙하던 미국 항공사 소속 화물기가,미트로비치 프로필타이어 바람이 빠져 활주로 한가운데 멈춰서는 사고가 일어났습니다.

이 사고로 해당 활주로가 거의 종일 폐쇄되면서 수백 편의 항공편 운항이 차질을 빚었습니다.

김지성 기자의 보도입니다.

인천국제공항 활주로에 미국 아틀라스 항공사 소속 화물기가 오도 가도 못한 채 서 있습니다.

이 화물기는 미국 알래스카로 가기 위해 오늘 새벽 5시쯤 인천국제공항 제3 활주로에서 이륙했습니다.

하지만 기체 결함으로 이륙 두 시간 만에 인천공항으로 돌아오면서 제1활주로로 착륙했는데 그 과정에서 타이어 바람이 빠진 겁니다.

이미 이륙할 때부터 타이어 일부가 파손된 걸로 알려졌습니다.

[인천국제공항공사 관계자]
"타이어 조각이래요.조각이 떨어졌나봐요."

인명피해는 없었지만 종일 수백 편의 항공편 운항이 차질을 빚었습니다.

전체 활주로 네 곳 중 화물기가 멈춰선 활주로와 재포장 공사 중인 활주로를 뺀 두 곳으로만 이착륙이 이뤄졌기 때문입니다.

"와이프 친정 간다고 그래서 시즈오카 가려고 하고 있었거든요.처제가 마중 나오기로 했는데."

"항저우에서 비즈니스 때문에 오시는 손님이 있어서 마중하러 왔는데 생각보다 비행기 조금 지연이 돼서‥"

비행기에 탑승한 채 3시간 넘게 이륙을 기다린 승객들도 있었습니다.

해당 화물기는 타이어를 교체한 뒤 사고 발생 11시간이 지난 오후 6시쯤에야 활주로 밖으로 옮겨졌고 저녁 7시 반부터 활주로 운행도 재게 됐습니다.

국토교통부 항공철도사고조사위원회는 현장 조사를 진행하고 정확한 사고 원인을 들여다보고 있습니다.
