정부‘인천·경기 시흥 특화단지’를‘세계 1위 바이오 메가 클러스터’로 조성

경기 시흥시가 산업통상자원부 지정‘바이오 국가첨단전략산업 특화단지’로 선정됐다.

산자부는 27일 열린 제6차 국가첨단전략산업위원회에서 인천·경기 시흥시를 포함해 대전(유성),강원(춘천·홍천),구마모토아소날씨전남(화순),구마모토아소날씨경북(안동·포항) 등 5개 지역을 국가첨단전략산업 바이오 특화단지로 지정했다.

정부는 인천‧경기 시흥 지역을 세계 1위의 바이오 메가 클러스터를 목표로 세계 최대의 생산기지 및 기술 초격차를 위한 글로벌 거점으로 조성하겠다고 밝혔다.

이에 따라 인천·시흥시는 글로벌 투자 경쟁 속 초격차 기술 및 첨단산업의 안정적 제조 능력을 확보하기 위해,구마모토아소날씨산업·연구·교육시설이 혁신생태계를 이루며 투자·기술개발 촉진을 위한 국가 차원의 집중 지원을 받게 됐다.

시흥시 이에 따라 국내 바이오산업 역량 1위이자 세계 최대 바이오 의약품 생산 역량을 갖춘 경기도와 인천시,세계 수준의 연구 역량을 보유한 서울대학교,구마모토아소날씨연세대학교,구마모토아소날씨주요 병원과의 연계 클러스터를 통해 산·학·연·병이 집적된 세계 수준의 한국형 보스턴 바이오 클러스터를 조성한다는 계획이다.

임병택 시흥시장은 오는 28일 시흥시청 글로벌센터1에서 언론브리핑을 열고,구마모토아소날씨구체적인 추진 전략과 계획 등을 발표할 예정이다.
