(강릉=연합뉴스) 유형재 기자 = 최근 강원 강릉시 경포해수욕장에 백사장으로 밀려 나와 죽은 멸치떼가 잇따라 발생해 눈길을 끌고 있다.

14일 오전 경포해수욕장 백사장 곳곳에는 해변으로 파도에 밀려 나와 길게 띠를 이룬 채 죽은 멸치떼가 목격됐다.

경포해수욕장에서는 2∼3일 전에도 비슷한 현상이 나타나는 등 여름철 동해안에서는 거의 매년 반복되는 현상이다.

일부에서는 지진 등의 전조가 아닌가 하고 우려하지만,토요일 로또판매시간전문가들은 고등어와 같은 상위 포식자들에게 쫓긴 멸치떼가 해변으로 몰리면서 이런 현상이 발생하는 것으로 추정한다.

과거 강릉과 양양,토요일 로또판매시간고성 등에서는 한낮 해변으로 엄청난 양의 멸치떼가 밀려 나오면 주민들이 맨손으로 주워 담거나 반두와 뜰채 등을 들고나와 잡는 진풍경이 연출되기도 했다.

주민 최모(64)씨는 "아침마다 경포해변에서 맨발 걷기를 하는데 며칠 전부터 죽은 멸치떼가 백사장에 많이 밀려 나와 있어 의아했다"며 "최근 남해안에 지진도 있어 약간 우려되기도 한다"고 말했다.
