'유럽을 위한 애국자'는 헝가리 민족주의 성향 피데스(Fidesz)당을 이끄는 오르반 총리가 지난달 30일 극우 성향인 오스트리아의 자유당(FPO),텐텐 카지노 먹튀체코 긍정당(ANO)과 함께 만든 신생 정치동맹입니다.

세 정당은 창립 기자회견 당시 EU의 기득권 정치인들이 전쟁과 이민·침체를 가져왔다고 주장하며 불법 이민을 막고 친환경 정책을 되돌려 EU 정책에서 국가 주권을 지키겠다고 주장했습니다.

세 정당은 지난달 유럽의회 선거에서 총합 24석을 차지했습니다.

여기에 네덜란드 PVV도 합류를 선언하면서 새 정치동맹은 총 6개 정당으로 세를 확장하게 됐습니다.

지난달 유럽의회 선거에서 6석을 차지한 PVV는 작년 11월 네덜란드 조기총선에서는 1위를 차지해 최근 출범한 네덜란드 연립정부도 주도하고 있습니다.

기존에는 프랑스 극우 정치인 마린 르펜의 국민연합(RN)이 속해 있는 유럽의회 극우 정치그룹 '정체성과 민주주의'(ID) 소속이었으나,텐텐 카지노 먹튀ID에서 탈퇴해 오르반 총리 주도 새 정치동맹에 힘을 실어주는 셈이 됐습니다.
