'명품가방 수수 의혹'을 받고 있는 김건희 여사 측이 오늘(16일) 대리인을 통해 '직원에게 반환 지시를 내린 것이 맞다'며 '꼬리 자르기 비판은 어불성설'이란 입장을 밝혔습니다.

김 여사를 대리하는 최지우 변호사는 이날 보도자료를 내고 "영부인은 유 행정관에게 바로 돌려주면 기분이 상할 수도 있으니 기분 나쁘지 않도록 추후 돌려주라고 지시했다"며 이 때문에 포장 그대로 계속 보관하게 된 것이라고 설명했습니다.

또 최 변호사는 "이 사건은 형사처벌 규정이 없는 사건으로 누군가에게 책임을 뒤집어 씌울 수 없어 '꼬리 자르기'라는 말은 어불성설"이라고도 주장했습니다.

거짓 해명이란 비판에는 "지금까지 도덕적 비난을 받았음에도 일체의 해명이나 변명을 한 사실이 없는 바 이제 와 거짓 해명을 할 이유도 없다"고 설명했습니다.

최 변호사는 "참고로 반환 지시 관련 단독 기사는 변호인 측에서 요청한 해명 기사가 아니고 현재까지 증거로 입증할 수 있는 사안에 한해 언론에 공개했다"고도 설명했습니다.

최재영 목사 측은 지난해 9월 13일 서초구 코바나콘텐츠 사무실에서 김 여사를 만나 300만 원 상당의 디올 가방을 선물했다고 주장한 바 있습니다.

시민단체가 김 여사와 윤 대통령을 부정청탁금지법 위반 등으로 고발하면서 중앙지검에서 사건을 수사 중입니다.

지난 3일 코바나콘텐츠 직원 출신으로,넥슨 포커김 여사를 보좌해 온 유 행정관이 참고인 신분으로 검찰 조사를 받으면서 '가방을 받을 당시 김 여사로부터 반환 지시를 받았으나 깜빡하고 이행하지 못했다'고 진술한 것으로 알려졌습니다.

김 여사는 지난해 11월 서울의소리 보도 2주 전쯤 사실확인 요청을 받고서야 명품 가방이 반환되지 않은 사실을 인지했다는 입장입니다.

유 행정관의 진술이 알려지면서 정치권 등에선 꼬리 자르기란 비판이 나왔습니다.
