오픈AI의 대화형 챗봇 '챗GPT' 이용자가 한국에서도 많이 늘어난 것으로 확인됐다.

11일 애플리케이션 분석업체 모바일인덱스에 따르면 지난달 챗GPT 모바일 앱 이용자는 127만3992명으로 전달에 비해 30.0% 늘어난 것으로 추산됐다.월간 챗GPT 앱 이용자가 100만 명을 넘은 것은 이번이 처음이다.

월 이용자는 올해 2월 69만7830명에서 3월 88만364명으로 늘어난 뒤 3달 연속 증가세를 이어갔다.

아울러 챗GPT 앱의 이용 시간과 신규 설치도 크게 늘었다.5월 총이용 시간은 73만9332시간으로 전달과 비교해 55.8% 증가했다.앱 신규 설치의 경우 지난달 40만4570건으로 한달 사이 47.9% 늘었다.6월 들어서도 1∼7일 한 주 동안 모두 11만3879건으로 상승했다.

이와 같은 상승 곡선은 국내에서 챗GPT에 대한 높은 관심을 반영한 것으로 풀이된다.지난달 중순 오픈AI는 'GPT-4o(GPT-포오)'라는 새 챗GPT 모델을 공개해 화제를 모았다.GPT-4o는 주로 텍스트를 통해 대화할 수 있었던 기존 모델과 달리 이용자와 실시간 음성으로 질문하고 답변을 요청할 수 있으며 인간과 유사한 응답 속도를 보였다.
