어젯밤 서울 도심 한복판에서 승용차가 인도로 돌진해 9명이 숨지고 4명이 다치는 대형사고가 발생했습니다.

서울 시청역 인근의 한 주점 앞입니다.

삼삼오오 모여있는 사람들 뒤로 불빛이 번쩍이나 싶더니 거리가 아수라장으로 변합니다.

어젯밤 9시 27분쯤,최정아 홀덤60대 운전자가 몰던 승용차가 인도를 덮친 겁니다.

이 차량은 승용차 2대도 잇달아 들이받은 뒤 교차로 한복판에 멈춰 섰습니다.

[현장 목격자]
"너무 놀랐고요.저희 횡단보도 지나자마자 굉장한 굉음으로 스포츠카 같은 게 휙 지나가길래 큰일 났다 싶었는데…"

사고가 난 도로는 시청역에서 명동으로 가는 4차선 일방통행 도로였는데 승용차가 200미터가량을 역주행한 뒤,최정아 홀덤인도를 덮치고 지나가던 차량 2대도 잇달아 들이받은 것으로 보입니다.

이 사고로 9명이 숨졌고 4명이 다쳤습니다.

서울 도심 중에도 붐비는 곳인데다가 저녁을 먹고 집으로 가는 퇴근길 시간대와 겹치면서 피해가 컸습니다.

경찰은 오늘 새벽 4시까지 사고현장 양방향 도로를 통제한 채 현장감식을 벌였습니다.
