25일 경기도 화성시 서신면 리튬전지 공장 화재 현장 모습.[연합뉴스] 정부가 대형 화재 발생 가능성이 높은 배터리 공장에 대한 안전점검 TF를 꾸렸다.최소 22명이 숨진 경기 화성 아리셀 화재 사고를 계기로 재발 방지 대책을 마련하겠다는 취지다.

강경성 산업통상자원부 1차관은 25일 충남 당진에 소재한 비츠로셀 리튬 일차전지 제조시설을 방문해 합동점검을 실시했다.이날 점검에는 소방청과 전기안전공사,가스안전공사 등 유관기관이 함께했다.비츠로셀은 국내 1위 일차전지 기업으로 국내 관련 시장의 85%를 점유하고 있다.지난해 2000억원의 매출을 올린 회사다.

일차전지 공장은 대형 화재 위험이 특히 강한 업종으로 꼽힌다.상온에서 발화할 가능성은 낮지만,3월 24일 야구한번 불씨가 붙으면 연쇄 연소·폭발로 확대되기 쉬워서다.강 차관 등이 방문한 비츠로셀도 지난 2017년 화재로 예산 소재 공장이 전소되는 아픔을 겪었다.당진에 새 공장을 건립하고 재기에 성공했지만,3월 24일 야구1위 업체도 한순간에 생산시설을 잃어버릴 정도로 위험성이 높다는 의미다.

강 차관은 이날 "리튬 전지는 화학적 특성상 한번 화재가 발생하면 진화가 쉽지 않은 만큼,사전적인 안전관리가 그 무엇보다 중요하다"고 강조했다.

산업부는 산업부 제1차관을 단장으로 하는 '배터리 산업 현장 안전점검 TF'를 구축했다.사고가 일어난 리튬 일차전지 제조시설 뿐만 아니라 리륨 이차전지 제조시설,3월 24일 야구리튬 배터리 ESS 제조시설,사용후 배터리 보관시설 등을 전반적으로 점검할 계획이다.TF에는 산업부를 비롯해 국가기술표준원,3월 24일 야구소방청,배터리산업협회,3월 24일 야구전기안전공사 등이 함께한다.

산업부 관계자는 "리튬 배터리 산업 현장 안전점검을 시작으로 여름철 풍수해 등에 대비해 전기,가스,3월 24일 야구산업단지 등 산업 인프라 전반에 대한 종합 안전점검도 즉시 실시할 계획"이라고 말했다.
