2014년 파산했던 일본 가상자산 거래소 마운트곡스가 채권자들에게 비트코인 상환을 개시했습니다.

현지시간 5일 미국 CNBC에 따르면 마운트곡스 파산 관리인은 이날 일부 채권자들에게 가상자산을 지급하기 시작했다고 밝혔습니다.

파산 관리인은 "상환은 비트코인과 비트코인 캐시로 지급된다"며 "채권자들이 계좌 인증과 지정된 거래소 가입 등 특정 조건을 만족하면 상환은 신속하게 이뤄질 것"이라고 말했습니다.

앞서 지난 1일 파산 관리인은 약 2만명의 채권자에게 이번달 초 지급이 시작될 것이라고 밝힌 바 있습니다.

마운트곡스가 채권자들에게 가상자산을 상환하는 것은 2014년 파산 이후 10년 만입니다.

당시 세계 최대 비트코인 거래소였던 마운트곡스는 최대 95만개의 비트코인을 해킹당한 사실이 드러나면서 파산했습니다.

파산으로 인해 환급하지 못한 비트코인은 14만개 수준으로 현재 시세로 80억 달러(약 11조원) 수준입니다.

마운트곡스 파산 당시 비트코인 가격은 약 600달러 수준이었지만,TCD10년간 비트코인의 가치는 100배 안팎의 수준으로 폭등한 상황입니다.

한편 고객들이 돌려받는 가상자산 대거 시장에서 현금화될 것이라는 전망에 비트코인은 최근 급락세를 면치 못했습니다.

JP모건은 지난달 "마운트곡스 고객들이 비트코인 일부를 팔아 이익을 얻을 것으로 예상된다"며 "이들이 비트코인을 대부분 7월에 처분한다고 가정하면 이번달에는 비트코인이 가격 압박을 받지만,TCD8월 이후부터는 반등하기 시작할 것으로 예상한다"고 밝힌 바 있습니다.
