[서울=뉴시스]남주현 기자 = 수출입은행은 한국서부발전이 수주한 아랍에미리트(UAE) 아즈반(Ajban) 태양광 발전 사업에 총 1억5000만 달러 규모의 프로젝트파이낸스(PF) 금융을 제공한다고 8일 밝혔다.

아즈반 태양광 발전 사업은 UAE 아즈반 사막 지역에 총사업비 9억 달러(약 1조2000억원) 이상을 투입해 설비 용량 1500㎿ 규모의 태양광발전소를 건설·운영하는 프로젝트다.

서부발전은 프랑스 전력공사(EDF)의 신재생에너지 자회사인 EDF-R과 컨소시엄을 구성해 국내 최초로 UAE 태양광 발전 사업을 수주해 사업주로서 사업 전반을 총괄 수행한다.

이번 사업은 부지 면적만 20㎢로 축구장 2850개 넓이로 우리나라 기업이 수주한 태양광 발전 사업 중에서 단일 사업으로는 설비용량과 사업비 모두 역대 최대 규모다.

태양광 모듈 약 293만개를 설치해 원자력 발전소 1기(1400㎿)보다 더 큰 규모의 초대형 태양광발전소로 우리나라 기업이 수주한 태양광 발전사업 중 단일 사업으로 설비용량과 사업비 모두 역대 최대 규모다.

수은 관계자는 "글로벌 에너지 기업들이 치열한 수주 경쟁을 벌이는 중동 태양광 발전 사업 입찰에서 후속 사업 수주를 적극 지원해 글로벌 친환경 에너지 전환에 기여할 것"이라고 말했다.
