워런 버핏(93) 버크셔해서웨이 회장 겸 최고경영자(CEO)가 7조원 넘는 돈을 추가 기부하기로 했다.

버크셔는 28일(현지시간) 성명을 통해 버핏 회장이 자선 단체 5곳에 모두 53억달러(약 7조3천억원)를 기부하기로 했다고 발표했다.

버핏 회장이 내놓은 버크셔 주식(클래스B) 1천300만 주 중 약 4분의 3인 993만 주는 세계 최대 규모 자선재단인 '빌 앤드 멀린다 게이츠 재단'에 기부된다.

나머지는 수전 톰슨 버핏 재단과 3명의 자녀인 하워드,라요 알메리아수전,라요 알메리아피터가 운영하는 다른 3곳의 재단에 각각 기부된다.수전 톰슨 버핏 재단은 2004년 세상을 떠난 아내 이름을 땄으며,라요 알메리아출산 건강 관련 지원활동을 펼치고 있다.

버핏 회장은은 자녀들이 관리하는 자선 재단에 버핏 주식을 넘겨주지만 경영권은 물려주지 않는다.주식이 자녀들이 관리하는 자선 재단에 가더라도 경영에는 간섭하지 못하게 의결권이 없는 B주로 전환해서 주식을 넘기기 때문이다.

이날 성명에서 버핏 회장은 자신의 사후에 자식들은 남겨진 재단을 관리하면서 살면 된다고 못 박기도 했다.자신이 죽은 뒤 유산 99% 이상은 자선 활동에 쓰일 것이라고도 밝혔다.

앞서 버핏은 지난 2006년 자신의 거의 모든 재산을 자선 재단에 기부하겠다고 밝힌 바 있다.

CNBC 방송에 따르면 이번 추가 기부 후에도 버핏이 보유한 버크셔 지분 가치는 약 1천300억 달러(약 180조원)에 달한다.
