(타이베이=연합뉴스) 김철문 통신원 = 지난 4월 규모 7 이상의 강진이 발생한 대만 동부 화롄현 인근 해역에서 16일 오전 규모 6.3의 지진이 발생했다.

대만 중앙기상서(CWA·기상청)에 따르면 이날 오전 7시 35분(현지시간) 대만 동부 화롄현 정부 청사에서 동남쪽으로 34.2km 떨어진 동부 해역의 해저 9.7km 지점에서 지진이 발생했다.

이어 규모 4.0 이상 여진이 계속 발생하고 있다고 기상서는 덧붙였다.

이에 따라 북부 타이베이와 신베이,블랙잭 게임 사이트동부 화롄과 타이둥,블랙잭 게임 사이트남부 타이난 등 12개 현과 시에 '국가급 경보'가 발령됐다.

대만언론은 대만 전 지역에서 심하게 흔들림을 느꼈다면서 현재까지 인명 피해 상황은 신고되지 않았다고 보도했다.

이어 지진 발생과 동시에 북부 타이베이와 중부 타이중 지하철(MRT) 및 대만철도 측은 안전상의 이유로 서행 운전에 나섰다고 전했다.

중앙기상서는 이번 지진이 지난 4월 초 발생한 규모 7.2(미국·유럽 지진당국 발표는 7.4)의 지진과는 관계없다고 밝혔다.

이어 전날 규모 5.7의 지진과도 관계없는 별개의 지진이라고 설명했다.

그러면서 향후 3일 내로 규모 5.5 이상의 여진 가능성이 있다면서 주의를 당부했다.

앞서 전날 오후 5시 6분께에도 대만 북동부 이란현 정부 청사에서 동남쪽으로 38.3km 떨어진 동부 해역 해저 9.0km 지점에서 규모 5.7의 지진이 발생한 바 있다.

대만 언론은 중앙기상서 통계를 인용해 올해 1월부터 지금까지 규모 5.0 이상 지진이 50회 발생해 예년에 비해 특별히 많은 편이라고 전했다.

대만은 '불의 고리'로 불리는 환태평양 지진대에 위치해 지진이 자주 발생한다.

지난 2016년에는 강진으로 100명 이상의 목숨을 잃기도 했다.

특히 1999년 9월 21일에는 중부 난터우(南投) 지역에서 발생한 규모 7.6의 지진으로 2천415명이 숨졌다.

지난 4월 초에는 동부 화롄현에서 규모 7.2의 강진으로 사망자 18명,부상자 1천155명이 각각 발생했다.
