(서울=연합뉴스) 장보인 기자 = 서울 영등포경찰서의 세관 마약수사 사건과 관련해 부당한 외압을 가했다는 의혹이 제기된 조병노 경기수원남부경찰서장(경무관)이 전남경찰청 생활안전부장으로 전보됐다.

정부는 14일 치안정감과 치안감을 포함한 경찰 고위간부 인사를 단행했는데 조 경무관을 비롯한 경무관 45명의 인사 발령도 이날 함께 이뤄졌다.

그중에서도 조 경무관에 대한 이번 인사는 사실상 '좌천성 발령'이라는 해석이 나온다.

앞서 지난해 영등포서 형사과장으로 재직하던 백해룡 경정은 마약 조직원들과 세관 직원들의 유착 의혹을 수사할 당시 언론 브리핑을 앞두고 서울경찰청 생활안전부장이던 조 경무관으로부터 '보도자료에서 관세청을 빼라'는 외압을 받았다고 폭로한 바 있다.

조 경무관은 외압이 없었다고 반박했지만 조지호 신임 경찰청장은 지난달 29일 국회 인사청문회에서 조 경무관에 대한 인사 조치를 검토하겠다고 밝혔다.

경찰청은 지난 2월 인사혁신처에 중앙징계위원회 소집을 요청하기도 했으나 조 경무관에게 징계가 내려지지는 않았다.
