(청주=연합뉴스) 천경환 기자 = 청주시립미술관은 4일 "통합 청주시 출범 10주년을 기념해 오늘부터 오는 9월 29일까지 '청주 가는 길: 강익중 전시'를 한다"고 밝혔다.

청주 출신의 세계적인 설치미술가이자 올해로 창작활동 40주년을 맞이하는 강익중 작가는 1984년 뉴욕으로 건너가 세계를 무대로 활동하며 '소통과 화합',2022 월드컵 프랑스'조화와 연결'의 메시지를 작품에 담아왔다.

이번 전시에서는 높이 10ｍ짜리 미술관 벽면을 3천여개의 한글로 채우는 '내가 아는 것'과 1만여 개의 오브제와 그림으로 이뤄진 '해피월드',2022 월드컵 프랑스'삼라만상' 등의 설치미술품이 소개된다.

이상봉 시립미술관장은 "통합시 출범 10주년을 기념하고,2022 월드컵 프랑스작가 강익중의 40여년 예술 활동을 고향 청주에서 회고하는 전시"라며 "작가의 핵심 연작과 신작을 한자리에서 만나볼 수 있는 특별한 시간이 될 것"이라고 말했다.
