노인들을 상대로 건강기능식품 등을 불법 판매해 폭리를 취한 일당이 붙잡혔습니다.

제주자치경찰단은 의료법과 약사법,콧수염 왁싱건강기능식품에 관한 법률 위반 등 혐의로 떴다방 업체 대표 30대 A 씨와 홍보강사 70대 B 씨를 구속했다고 오늘(4일) 밝혔습니다.

이번 사건과 관련해 가담 정도가 낮은 또 다른 홍보강사 등 직원 19명도 입건돼 수사를 받고 있습니다.

이들은 2021년 11월부터 최근까지 도내에서 기타가공식품과 건강기능식품 홍보관을 운영하며 제품에 질병 예방과 치료 효과가 있는 의약품인 것처럼 속여 불법 판매한 혐의를 받고 있습니다.

특히 단가 4만 원짜리 제품을 98만 원에 판매하는 등 최대 24.5배나 비싼 가격에 제품을 팔아 막대한 이익을 챙긴 것으로 드러났습니다.

총 판매액만 약 26억 원.피해자는 주로 60대 이상 여성 노인으로,콧수염 왁싱1700여 명에 달합니다.

자치경찰 수사 결과 이들은 홍보강사의 신분을 대학교수나 생명공학박사,유명 제약회사 대표,연구원 등으로 속이고 도수치료 등 무면허 의료 행위를 한 것으로 확인됐습니다.

심지어 사례품과 경품을 미끼로 노인들을 모객한 후 회원명부를 만들어 출입을 관리하며 단속에 대비하는 치밀함까지 보였습니다.

또 제품 구매 의사가 없는 노인에게는 우선 제품을 가져가도록 한 후 일정 기간이 지나면 협박 문자를 보내거나 회원명부에 기록된 주소지에 찾아가 수금한 것으로 나타났습니다.

자치경찰 관계자는 "어르신들은 피해 사실을 숨기려는 경향이 있어 신고가 쉽지 않다"며 "유사 불법 행위를 하는 다른 업체들에 대해서도 수사를 확대하고 있다"고 말했습니다.
