2020년 세계 99위로 첫 100위권 진입 이후 5년 연속 100위권을 유지하고 있다.

특히 올해 평가에서는 양질의 일자리와 경제성장(SDG8) 항목에서 세계 1위를 차지했다.

THE 세계대학 영향력 평가는 대학의 연구력과 사회적·지구적 책무를 중요한 평가 요소로 삼고 있다.

평가 기준은 2015년 UN 총회에서 채택된 17개 항목의 지속가능발전목표(SDGs) 달성에 대한 기여도다.

종합 순위는 필수 항목인 지속 가능한 발전 목표를 위한 협력(SDG17)과 상위 3개 항목을 종합해 산출한다.올해 평가는 지난해보다 372개 대학이 증가한 세계 125개국 1,963개 대학이 참여했다.

경북대는 평가 항목 중 양질의 일자리와 경제성장(SDG8) 세계 1위,기아 해소(SDG2) 세계 9위,지속 가능한 도시와 공동체(SDG11) 세계 25위,지속 가능한 발전 목표를 위한 협력(SDG17) 세계 20위를 차지했다.

또 기아 해소(SDG2),미니 pci 슬롯양질의 일자리와 경제성장(SDG8),불평등 감소(SDG10),미니 pci 슬롯지속 가능한 도시와 공동체(SDG11),육상 생태계(SDG15),지속 가능한 발전 목표를 위한 협력(SDG17) 등 6개 항목에서 각각 국내 1위를 기록했다.

한편 경북대는 올해 4월에 발표한 THE 아시아대학평가에서 아시아 87위,국립대 3년 연속 1위를 차지하고 최근 발표한 QS 세계대학 평가에서는 국립대 5년 연속 1위에 올랐다.
