수확 철을 맞은 호박밭에서 애초 심은 호박과 전혀 다른 모양의 호박이 열렸다면 얼마나 황당할까요?

강원도 홍천에서 실제 일어난 일인데요.

농민들은 호박 종류가 뭔지도 몰라 판매도 못 한다고 합니다.

이유진 기자의 보도입니다.

수확 철을 앞둔 강원도의 한 호박밭입니다.

길쭉한 모양의 호박이 달려 있습니다.

크기도 제각각,인기 드라마 순위큰 건 성인 머리만 합니다.

지난 4월 둥근 호박 종자 '청옥'을 심었는데,엉뚱하게도 길쭉한 모양의 호박이 열린 겁니다.

정확한 품종조차 알 수 없습니다.

[박영대/피해 농가 주인 : "동그란 거 여야지 우리가 수확을 하는 데,지금 생긴 거 보시다시피 옛날 쪽박처럼 생기고 막 이래서 뭔지 품종을 몰라서 출하를 못 하고 있는 입장이에요."]

이렇게 엉뚱한 종자로 피해를 본 농가는 확인된 곳만 강원도 홍천의 다섯 곳.

재배 면적이 3만 3천 제곱미터에 달해,인기 드라마 순위피해 규모가 상당하다고 농민들은 주장합니다.

둥근 호박을 출하하기 위한 박스 수천 개가 쌓여 있습니다.

하지만 길쭉한 모양의 호박이 자라면서 사용할 수 없는 상태입니다.

종묘회사는 생산과정에서 다른 종자가 섞인 것 같다며,둥근 호박 종자를 다시 보내주겠다고 밝혔습니다.

농민들은 지금 새 종자를 심어도 수확을 기대하기 어렵다며,인기 드라마 순위보상을 요구하고 있습니다.

[종묘회사 대표/음성변조 : "전체적으로 아직 수확이 이제 초기인데 100% 다 보상,가을까지 해서 보상해 드릴 수는 없는 거잖아요."]

종묘회사는 당장 보상은 어렵지만 추가 피해 농가를 확인해 구체적인 보상 논의를 진행하겠다고 밝혔습니다.
