AWS의 투자에는 조건이 있다.스타트업이 AWS의 융자를 받으려려면 AWS 내에서 사업을 진행해야 한다.AWS 외에도 스타트업에 융자를 제공하는 클라우드 기업은 '마이크로소프트 애저'와 '구글 클라우드'가 있다.

클라우드 사업은 서비스 활용도가 높아질수록 서비스 사용 비용이 급격히 증가하는 구조다.때문에 클라우드 기업들은 이용자에게 융자를 제공함으로써 자사 서비스를 계속 이용하도록 유도하는 전략을 취한다.AWS에 매년 타 기업에 제공하는 클라우 관련 융자는 10억달러(약 1조3천900억원)에 이른다.

맷 우드 AWS AI 제품 담당 부사장은 "스타트업은 우리 플랫폼을 통해 필요한 데이터를 빠르게 처리할 수 있다"며 "그들은 전력을 다해 사업을 일으켜 안정성과 일관성이라는 궤도에 사업을 올려놓을 수 있을 것이다"고 말했다.

AI 수요로 인해 클라우드 서비스 사용이 늘어나 클라우드 제공업체의 성장도 가속화됐다.아마존의 1분기 매출은 전년 대비 17% 증가한 94억2천만달러(약 13조843억원)로 집계됐다.
