강원대학교(총장 정재연·사진)가 교육부 '반도체 특성화대학 지원사업'에 선정됐다.

반도체 특성화대학 지원사업은 대학이 반도체 특화학과·융합전공 등을 운영할 수 있도록 4년간 교육 인프라 및 교육과정 운영 등에 집중 지원하는 사업이다.올해 사업에는 강원대학교를 비롯해 총 9개 대학이 신규 특성화대학으로 선정됐다.

특히 강원대는 글로컬대학30 사업을 통해 2026년 출범하는 강원1도1국립대학을 계기로 춘천-삼척-강릉-원주를 포함한 강원권 전역의 반도체 교육을 선도하고 지자체·기업과 협력을 바탕으로 '강원권 반도체 클러스터' 조성과 '반도체 공동연구소' 건립사업에 총력을 기울이고 있다.

김정범 강원대 차세대반도체혁신융합대학사업단장은 “반도체 특성화대학 선정은 강원대와 강원자치도,춘천시 등 지역사회가 합심하여 거둔 큰 성과”라며 “앞으로도 최첨단 반도체 기술 교육과 연구에 매진해 글로벌 경쟁력을 갖춘 인재를 양성하고 지역 산업 발전에 기여하는 명실공히 반도체 교육의 중심대학으로 자리매김하겠다”고 밝혔다.
