경찰 인사 비리에 연루된 혐의를 받는 전직 치안감 A 씨가 검찰에 구속됐습니다.

대구지방법원은 오늘(5일) 오전 제삼자뇌물취득 혐의를 받는 A 씨에 대한 구속 전 피의자 심문(영장실질심사) 뒤 증거 인멸과 도주 우려가 있다며 검찰이 청구한 구속영장을 발부했습니다.

검찰에 따르면 A 씨는 퇴직 후인 2021∼2023년 경찰관 여러 명의 인사청탁을 들어주는 대가로 '인사 브로커' 역할을 한 전직 간부급 경찰관 B 씨에게서 3천500만 원 가량을 받은 혐의를 받고 있습니다.

A 전 치안감은 과거 대구 지역 한 경찰서장으로 지낼 당시 B 씨와 연을 맺고 친분을 유지해 온 것으로 알려졌습니다.

또 A 씨는 자신의 딸 계좌를 통해 B 씨로부터 금품을 받은 것으로 전해졌습니다.

그는 오늘 낮 12시 영장실질심사를 마치고 나오며 '돈을 받은 것을 인정하느냐'는 취재진 질문에 "인정한다"고 말하며 고개를 숙였습니다.

다만,엠파이어향후 추가로 밝혀질 수 있는 혐의 여부에 대해서는 "여기서 답하는 게 적절하지 않다"고 했습니다.

앞서 대구지검은 지난해 7월 재직 중 인사 청탁 대가로 수백만 원을 주고받은 혐의로 불구속 송치된 전직 총경과 경감에 대한 수사에 착수했습니다.

검찰은 이 과정에서 B 씨가 개입된 또 다른 경찰 인사 비리 정황을 포착해 관련 수사를 확대해 왔습니다.

또 지난달 말 B 씨가 관여한 인사 비리에 연루된 의혹을 받는 현직 간부급 경찰관 3명을 압수수색하고,엠파이어대구경찰청과 경북경찰청 관련 부서에서 최근 3년 치 인사 자료도 확보했습니다.

지역 법조계에선 향후 대구경찰청과 경북경찰청 소속 전·현직 고위 간부 등 다수가 인사 비리 관련 수사 선상에 오를 수 있다고 보며,엠파이어A 씨 구속을 계기로 검찰 수사도 탄력을 받을 것으로 보고 있습니다.
