내달 11일까지 공모절차 시행

방송통신위원회는 28일 정부과천청사에서 전체회의를 열고 MBC 대주주인 방송문화진흥회 이사 등 공영방송 3사의 임원 선임 계획을 의결했다.

회의에는 김홍일 위원장과 이상인 부위원장이 참석했으며 이의 없이 의결이 이뤄졌다.개의 전 MBC는 이 부위원장에 대한 기피 신청을 냈으나 각하됐다.

이날 선임 계획 의결에 따라 8월 12일로 임기가 만료되는 방문진 이사 9인과 감사 1인에 대한 공모 절차가 이날부터 다음 달 11일까지 이뤄질 예정이다.

8월 31일 임기 만료 예정인 KBS 이사 11인에 대해서도 같은 기간 공모를 접수한다.

EBS 이사 9인의 경우 임기가 오는 9월 14일 만료돼 다음 달 12일부터 25일까지 공모 접수가 예정됐다.3사 임원에는 중복해 응모할 수 없다.응모 후 방통위 상임위원 간 협의를 통해 후보자를 선정할 예정이다.

KBS 이사는 방통위가 추천하면 대통령이 임명하며,삼성 프로야구 감독방문진 이사 및 감사와 EBS 이사는 방통위가 바로 임명할 수 있다.

김홍일 위원장은 "공영방송 이사 선출과 관련한 개정 법률안이 국회에서 발의돼 논의되고 있으나 현행법에 따라 공영방송 이사 추천 및 선임 절차를 진행하는 게 법집행기관인 방통위의 당연한 책무라고 생각한다"고 말했다.

이어 "가장 먼저 임기 만료가 도래하는 방문진 이사와 감사 임기가 8월 12일 종료되는데,삼성 프로야구 감독그 선임 절차에 대략 최소 4~5주가 소요되는 점을 고려하면 더 이상 임명 절차를 늦출 수 없어 부득이 오늘 선임계획안을 처리하게 됐다"고 덧붙였다.
