신세계백화점은 내달 1일부터 자녀 입양을 원하는 직원이 휴직을 할 수 있는 '입양 휴직' 제도를 시행한다고 27일 밝혔다.입양 절차를 밟는 임직원이 법원의 공식 입양 허가 전 아이 돌봄을 희망하면 6개월간 무급으로 휴직할 수 있는 제도다.

휴직 기간이 6개월 넘게 필요한 경우에는 회사와 협의해 1개월 단위로 연장할 수 있다.입양 휴직 제도는 올해 초 입양 절차를 밟던 직원이 휴직을 신청하면서 도입됐다고 신세계백화점은 설명했다.

신세계백화점 관계자는 "입양을 준비하는 직원 가족이 안정적으로 위탁 보호 기간을 보낼 수 있도록 제도를 도입했다"면서 "휴직 복귀에 대한 부담을 최소화하기 위해 원하는 부서에 우선 배치하는 등 앞으로도 모든 직원들의 행복한 가정 생활을 지원하는 데 힘쓸 것"이라고 말했다.
