(서울=연합뉴스) 강태우 기자 = LG전자가 최고기술경영자(CTO) 부문 산하에 '온디바이스AI 컨트롤타워'를 신설했다.

업계 전반에 온디바이스AI 탑재 논의가 활발해짐에 따라 관련 기술 논의 및 연구개발 등을 주도적으로 추진한다는 목표다.

25일 업계에 따르면 LG전자는 기존 제품 단위에 있던 인공지능(AI) 관련 인력과 CTO 산하의 연구 인력을 합쳐 '온디바이스AI 사업화 태스크'를 새로 만들었다.

신설 조직은 지난달 영입한 김영준 수석연구위원(전무)이 이끈다.김 전무는 지난해 말까지 SK텔레콤에서 근무하며 인공지능전환(AIX) 조직을 담당한 것으로 알려졌다.

LG전자 관계자는 "새로운 조직장은 온디바이스AI 사업화 태스크에서 거버넌스 역할을 수행하며 전체적인 사업의 운영 방향을 잡아줄 것으로 기대한다"고 설명했다.
