검찰이 화천대유 대주주 김만배씨로부터 금품을 수수한 의혹을 받는 전직 언론사 간부 2명의 신병확보에 나섰다.

서울중앙지검 반부패수사1부(부장검사 이준동)는 11일 배임수재와 청탁금지법 위반 혐의로 전직 한겨레 간부 A씨와 중앙일보 간부 B씨에 대해 구속영장을 청구했다고 밝혔다.

이들은 김씨로부터 대장동 개발사업과 관련한 비판 기사가 보도되는 것을 막고 유리한 기사가 보도될 수 있도록 해 달라는 등의 부정한 청탁을 받고 금품을 수수한 혐의를 받는다.

A씨는 2019년 5월부터 2020년 8월까지 총 8억9000만원을,B씨는 2019년 4월부터 2021년 8월까지 총 2억100만원을 수수한 것으로 조사됐다.

한편 김씨로부터 금품을 수수한 혐의를 받던 전직 한국일보 간부 출신 C씨는 지난달 29일 충북 단양 야산에서 숨진 채 발견됐다.

검찰은 지난 4월18일 A~C씨의 주거지를 압수수색 했고,수차례 피의자 신분으로 조사한 것으로 전해졌다.
