[앵커]

지난 대선을 앞두고 '허위 인터뷰' 의혹으로 윤석열 대통령의 명예를 훼손한 혐의를 받는 화천대유 대주주 김만배 씨와 신학림 전 언론노조위원장이 재판에 넘겨졌습니다.

해당 내용의 보도를 했던 뉴스타파의 대표와 기자도 불구속 기소됐습니다.

[리포트]

'2011년 부산저축은행 수사 당시 대검 중수과장이던 윤석열 대통령이 대장동 대출 브로커 조우형 씨 사건을 무마해줬다.' 지난 대선을 사흘 앞두고 보도된 화천대유 대주주 김만배 씨와 신학림 전 언론노조위원장의 대화 내용입니다.

검찰은 두 사람의 대화가 발췌·편집되면서 왜곡됐고,신 씨가 보도 대가로 김 씨로부터 1억 6,500만 원을 책값 명목으로 받았다고 판단했습니다.

[신학림/전 언론노조위원장/지난해 9월 : "김만배가 저를 신뢰를 했기 때문에,안녕하세요 게임이 책의 가치를 그 이상 그 이하로도 저는 생각하지 않고."]

검찰은 이재명 당시 더불어민주당 대선 후보가 대장동 의혹의 책임자로 거론되자 여론의 관심을 윤 대통령에게로 옮기려고 김 씨가 허위 인터뷰를 기획했다고 결론 내리고 두 사람을 구속기소 했습니다.

뉴스타파 대표와 기자 등 2명도 신 씨와 공모한 것으로 보고 불구속기소 했습니다.

검찰은 "누군가가 김 씨 뒤에서 조종하거나 모의했다고 생각하지는 않는다"면서도 "이해관계가 맞는 사람들이 보도 내용을 자신에게 유리하게 이용하고 편승한 부분은 확인했다"며 민주당과의 연결고리에 대한 수사도 진행 중이라고 밝혔습니다.

이와 관련해 검찰은 유동규 씨로부터 "김만배 씨가 자신의 변호사와 이재명 캠프가 소통하고 있으니 걱정 말라"는 취지의 말을 수차례 들었다는 진술을 확보한 것으로 알려졌습니다.

검찰은 이와 함께 유사한 의혹을 보도한 다른 언론사에 대해서도 수사를 계속하기로 했습니다.
