최재원 SK그룹 수석부회장의 측근으로 알려진 최 사장이 전면에 부각되며 SK이노베이션과 SK E&S 합병 등 향후 사업 재편 과정에서 어떤 중책을 맡게 될지 주목된다.줄곧 미국에서 머물러온 최 사장은 최근 귀국해 사무실을 마련한 것으로 알려졌다.

28일 재계에 따르면 최 사장은 7월 1일부로 SK E&S 미래성장총괄 사장에 부임한다.미래성장총괄은 향후 SK그룹의 그린 에너지 사업 등 미래 성장 사업 전반을 두루 살펴보는 자리가 될 예정이다.

서강대 경영학과와 서울대 경영학과 석사를 졸업한 최 사장은 1994년 한국이동통신에 입사해 30년간 SK그룹에 몸담은 'SK맨'이자 '재무통'이다.2011년 SK(주) 비서2실장에 취임해 10년간 최재원 수석부회장을 수행하며 지근거리에서 보좌했다.최재원 수석부회장의 신임을 얻은 최 사장은 SK이노베이션에서 배터리 사업 부문을 분할해 출범한 SK온에 2022년 3월 합류했다.이후 2023년 1월부터 SK온 경영지원총괄 사장으로 SK온의 배터리 사업 전반을 이끌어왔다.CAO는 경영 전략과 글로벌 전략,카지노 9 화 언제사업 개발 전반을 담당하는 자리로 유정준 SK온 부회장이 부임하기 전까지 사장급 임원은 이석희 대표이사와 최 사장뿐이었다.특히 그룹의 배터리 사업을 이끄는 최재원 수석부회장과 오랜 기간 호흡을 맞춘 인물로 최재원 수석부사장의 대표적인 복심으로 통한다.
