최근 인천국제공항에서 배우 변우석(33) 씨를 과잉 경호해 논란을 빚은 사설 경호원들에 대해 경찰이 입건 전 조사(내사)에 착수했습니다.

오늘(16일) 경찰에 따르면 인천공항경찰단은 지난 12일 인천공항에서 변 씨를 과잉 경호한 사설 경비업체 소속 경호원들을 내사하고 있습니다.

당시 변 씨 주변에 배치된 사설 경호원은 모두 6명이었으며 내사 대상자는 이들 가운데 3명인 것으로 알려졌습니다.

경찰은 이 경호원들에게 폭행이나 강요 등 혐의를 적용할 수 있는지 법률 검토를 하고 있습니다.

이와 함께 다른 승객이 공항 라운지를 이용하지 못하게 막은 행위와 관련해서는 라운지 운영사의 업무를 방해했는지도 따져볼 방침입니다.

변 씨는 홍콩에서 열리는 아시아 팬 미팅 투어에 참석하기 위해 지난 12일 인천공항을 이용하는 과정에서 과잉 경호를 받아 논란에 휩싸였습니다.

당시 인천공항에는 변 씨를 보기 위해 많은 팬이 한꺼번에 몰렸고,2024년1월7일 헐 시티 AFC 버밍엄 시티 FC사설 경호원들이 게이트를 통제했습니다.

이 과정에서 경호원들이 다른 승객에게 플래시를 비추고 항공권을 검사했다는 주장의 글과 영상도 인터넷에서 퍼졌습니다.

변 씨 소속사인 바로엔터테인먼트는 전날 공식 입장문을 내고 "모든 경호 수행 과정에서 발생한 불미스러운 일에 대해 도의적인 책임을 통감한다"며 사과했습니다.

경찰 관계자는 "아직 피해자들의 신고나 고소는 없다"면서도 "사설 경호원들이 법률을 위반했는지 폭넓게 들여다볼 계획"이라고 말했습니다.
