[서울=뉴시스]윤정민 기자 = 웹젠이 하반기에 출시할 신작 모바일 MMORPG '뮤 모나크2' 브랜드 아이덴티티(BI) 상표권을 출원했다고 16일 밝혔다.

웹젠은 뮤 모나크2에 대해 "'뮤' 원작의 시각적 요소를 그대로 계승한 레트로 그래픽에 온라인 다중접속 시스템(MMO) 특유의 경쟁 요소는 줄이고 RPG 본연의 캐릭터 육성의 재미를 추구한 작품"이라고 설명했다.

이어 넓은 팬층을 보유한 스테디셀러 IP 세분화 전략 일환으로 원작과 전작의 플레이 경험이 있는 게임 회원 중 경쟁 스트레스 없이 게임을 즐기고자 하는 유저층을 위해 기획했다고 말했다.

이번 신작은 전작(뮤 모나크)에 비해 캐릭터 육성 과정에 필요한 경쟁 요소가 축소된다.사냥터와 보스 개체 수 증대와 강화 재료 수급 난이도를 낮춰 원활한 캐릭터 성장을 지원한다.

웹젠은 게임 내 멤버십 등급을 게임 플레이를 통해 승급할 수 있게 해 게임 회원이 무료로 다양한 버프와 편의 기능을 얻을 수 있도록 혜택 구조를 전면 개편했다고 강조했다.

웹젠은 추후 브랜드 홈페이지와 공식 커뮤니티를 통해 순차적으로 게임 정보를 공개할 예정이다.

웹젠은 동화풍 애니메이션 MMORPG '프로젝트S'와 서브컬처 자체 개발작 '테르비스' 하반기 출시를 준비하고 있다.뮤 지식재산권(IP) 기반 작품으로 사업 안정성을 확보하는 동시에 다양한 장르의 신작으로 사업 포트폴리오를 확장해 나갈 계획이다.
