호주의 한 10대 유튜버가 '12일간 잠들지 않기' 도전에 나섰다가 유튜브 측으로부터 영상 정지 조치를 당했다.

지난 12일(현지시간) 영국 미러 등 외신에 따르면 120만 명의 구독자를 보유한 호주 19세 유튜버 노르메는 최근 '12일간 잠을 안 자고 세계 기록 세우기'라는 라이브 방송을 진행했다.

그러면서 노르메는 1964년 미국의 고등학생 랜디 가드너가 기록한 11일 25분(264시간 25분)의 무수면 기록 경신에 도전하겠다고 선언했다.

이후 그는 무수면을 이어가며 라이브 방송을 진행했고 실시간으로 꾸벅꾸벅 졸거나 글을 제대로 읽지 못하는 모습을 보이기도 했다.이에 구독자들은 노르메의 건강 상태를 우려하며 도전을 중단하라 요구했으며 결국 경찰에 직접 신고하기까지 했다.

유튜브 측 역시 "가이드라인을 위반했다"는 이유로 해당 라이브 방송을 중단시켰다.노르메의 해당 방송은 중단 이전까지 약 11일간 진행됐다.

그는 자신의 X(옛 트위터)에 "유튜브 측에서 나의 무수면 라이브 방송을 중단했다.목표 달성까지 딱 12시간 정도 남았었는데 유튜브에서 추방당했다.눈물이 난다"고 말했다.

한편 기네스에서 인정하는 '무수면' 공식 기록은 지난 1986년 로버트 맥도날드가 세운 18일 21시간 40분(453시간 40분)이다.이를 마지막으로 기네스 측은 안전과 윤리 등 문제로 '무수면' 관련 부분 기록 측정을 중단했다.
