가혹한 군기훈련으로 훈련병을 숨지게 한 혐의를 받는 중대장이 구속 수사를 받고 있죠.그런데 하나회 출신 예비역 장군이 이 중대장을 구속하지 말라고 주장하면서 유족들에게는 "운명이라 생각하라"는 글을 써 논란이 일고 있습니다.

예비역 장성들의 모임인 대한민국 성우회 홈페이지 게시판입니다.

규정을 어긴 군기훈련을 지시해 훈련병을 사망하게 한 혐의를 받는 중대장 등의 구속영장 실질 심사를 앞둔 지난 21일 "중대장을 구속하지 말라"는 제목의 글이 올라왔습니다.

육군 예비역 중장 문영일 씨가 쓴 글입니다.

하나회 출신으로 1군사령부 부사령관과 노태우 정부에서 차관급인 비상기획위원회 부위원장도 역임했습니다.

문씨는 글에서 "중대장을 구속하면 지휘관들의 사기가 땅에 떨어지고 결국 국군은 패망할 것"이라고 주장했습니다.

군인은 "단체 속에서 희생되기도 한다는 각오로 훈련해야 한다"면서 "불가항력으로 순직할 수도 있다"고 했습니다.

"희생자 가족들에겐 고통이겠으나 운명이라 생각하고 실망을 극복하라"는 엉뚱한 조언도 덧붙였습니다.

문씨의 주장과 달리 중대장과 부중대장은 이날 구속됐습니다.

글이 알려지자 군인 가족들을 중심으로 여론이 들끓었습니다.

군 가족 소통 커뮤니티에는 "훈련을 빙자한 가혹행위를 계속 용인해도 된다는 말이냐"는 비판이 올라왔습니다.

"용사들은 군의 소모품이냐"는 지적과 함께 "이런 생각을 가진 지휘관들 때문에 목숨을 잃는 용사들이 있는 것"이란 비난도 이어졌습니다.

논란이 확산되자 성우회는 나흘 만에 글을 삭제했습니다.
