시유지 매각대금을 가로챈 경북 포항시 전 공무원에게 징역형이 선고됐다.

대구지법 포항지원 형사1부(주경태 부장판사)는 25일 업무상횡령 등의 혐의로 구속 기소된 전 포항시 공무원 A씨에게 징역 8년을 선고하고 16억4300여만원 추징을 명령했다.

또 A씨의 배우자 B씨(51)에게는 범행을 방조한 혐의(특정범죄 가중처벌 등에 관한 법률 위반 방조)로 징역 2년 6개월에 집행유예 3년을 선고하고 3억2100여만원 추징을 명령했다.

A씨가 횡령한 돈을 계좌에 보관하고 약 4000만원을 가로챈 혐의(횡령)를 받는 C씨(53)에게는 징역 6개월에 집행유예 2년을 선고했다.

포항시의 시유지 매각 업무를 담당한 A씨는 2021년부터 2022년까지 시유지를 매각하면서 매각 대금 19억6000여만원을 가로채 개인적으로 사용한 혐의로 기소됐다.

지난해 포항시를 상대로 한 경북도 감사에서 감정평가 금액보다 적은 금액을 시에 납입한 사실이 드러나 경찰에 고발됐다.A씨는 지난해 9월 비위 사실이 발각된 후 파면됐다.
