경기도교육청 2028년 3월 개교 목표
임태희 "다 가고 싶은 학교 만들 것"

경기 안산시 대부도에 전국 최초로 공립형 국제학교인 '(가칭)경기안산국제학교'가 2028년 3월 문을 연다.국제학교는 다문화 학생과 일반 학생을 모두 선발해 중·고등학교 통합 형태로 운영된다.

임태희 경기도교육감은 18일 안산시와 이런 내용의 협약을 맺었다.

협약에 따르면 국제학교는 400억여 원이 투입돼 안산시 단원구 대부남동 산126번지 일대 2만 7963㎡ 부지에 12개 학급,챔피언스리그 포켓몬180명 규모로 들어선다.

학교에서는 △다문화 학생과 일반 학생 어울림교육 △국제적 역량 신장 △영어와 제2외국어교육 등 이중언어 강점 교육 △국제적 감각과 역량 신장하는 글로벌 리더교육 등이 이뤄진다.

또 △국내외 대학 지원을 돕는 진로진학교육 △지역특화 문화예술교육이 진행한다.

대부도 인근의 골프장,챔피언스리그 포켓몬승마장,챔피언스리그 포켓몬요트장 등과 협력해 지역특화 맞춤형 교육과정도 운영한다.

도교육청은 8~10월 투자심사와 11월 주민 공청회 등을 거쳐 내년 공사에 들어간다는 계획이다.

입학전형은 2026년 11월쯤 발표할 예정이다.

도교육청은 국제학교 운영협의회와 학교설립추진지원단을 꾸려 구체적인 교육 과정과 학생 선발 기준 등을 수립 중이다.

지난해부터 도교육청이 추진하고 있는‘국제학교 설립 타당성 연구’에서는 안산지역 주민 70% 이상이 국제학교 설립에 긍정적인 것으로 조사됐다.

임태희 경기도교육감은 "안산시야말로 가장 국제화된,챔피언스리그 포켓몬그러면서도 가장 다양한 새로운 문화가 시작되는 곳"이라며 "다른 곳에서 다 가고 싶어하고,챔피언스리그 포켓몬부러워하는 교육도시로 만들어 갈 것"이라고 말했다.
