정부 기밀을 폭로해 미국 방첩법 위반한 혐의로 기소된 위키리크스 창립자 줄리언 어산지가 자유의 몸이 됐습니다.

미국 북마리아나제도 사이판 지방법원은 현지시간 26일 공판에서 어산지에 대해 5년 형을 선고했으며,엘클라시코어산지가 영국 교도소에서 복역한 기간을 인정해 곧바로 석방 조치했습니다.

앞서 어산지와 미국 법무부는 어산지가 국방 정보의 획득과 유포에 대해 유죄를 인정하면 영국에서 복역한 기간을 인정해 추가 사법 처리 없이 즉각 석방하는 데 합의한 바 있습니다.

어산지는 이날 진행된 심리에서 "취재원에게 기밀로 분류된 정보를 제공해달라고 부추겼다"며 "수정헌법 제1조가 이러한 행동을 보호한다고 믿었지만 방첩법 위반이라는 것을 받아들인다"고 말했습니다.

미국 법무부는 "어산지를 태운 전용기가 호주 캔버라로 출발했으며,엘클라시코이 시간 이후부터 미국 정부의 허가 없이는 어산지의 미국 입국이 금지된다"고 밝혔습니다.
