멀티플렉스 영화관 3사가 코로나19 발생 이후 영화 관람권 가격을 잇달아 올린 데 이어 최근에도 한 차례 더 올리자 시민단체가 담합으로 의심된다며 공정거래위원회에 신고했습니다.

이에 대해 영화관 이익단체인 사단법인 한국상영발전협회는 사업 특성이 유사해 가격도 비슷해진 것일 뿐이라며 의혹을 즉각 부인했습니다.

참여연대 등 시민단체는 오늘(26일) 기자회견을 열어 CGV,불법도박사이트 신고롯데시네마,불법도박사이트 신고메가박스 등 멀티플렉스 3사를 티켓 가격 담합과 폭리 혐의로 공정위에 신고했다고 밝혔습니다.

이들 단체는 "멀티플렉스 3사는 최근 한두 달 사이에 주말 기준 1만 2천 원짜리 티켓 가격을 1만 5천 원으로 올렸다"며 "티켓 가격 폭리가 관객에게 부담을 주고 영화계를 위기로 내몰고 있다"고 주장했습니다.

그러면서 "멀티플렉스 3사는 가격 인상 이유로 코로나19 시기 적자를 들었지만,불법도박사이트 신고팬데믹은 종식됐다"면서 "티켓 가격도 코로나19 이전으로 돌아가야 한다"고 강조했습니다.

한국상영발전협회는 오늘 오후 발표한 입장문에서 "티켓 가격 결정은 철저히 각 사업자의 경영 판단하에 이뤄진다"며 "가격이 유사한 것은 제반 비용 구조 등 사업적 특성이 유사하기 때문"이라고 담합 의혹을 부인했습니다.
