최근 바닷가 갯벌에 차량을 끌고 들어갔다가 구조되는 일이 발생하고 있습니다.

차량 진입 자체를 막을 수 있는 대책이 필요하다는 지적이 나옵니다.

갯벌에 빠진 차량 바퀴 절반가량이 바닷물에 잠겼습니다.

물이 점점 더 차오르자 소형 견인차가 밧줄을 연결해 빼내려 하지만 꿈쩍도 하지 않습니다.

결국 대형 견인차로 1시간 40여 분이나 사투를 벌인 끝에 구조됐습니다.

운전자는 어민들이 쓰는 갯벌 진출입로를 따라 무심코 차를 끌고 들어갔다가 고립됐습니다.

"갯벌이 펄과 자갈이 섞여 있어서 바퀴가 빠지는 상황이 되다 보니까‥"

사고가 난 갯벌 주변입니다.

무지갯빛 해안도로가 펼쳐져 있고,지에스칼텍스 배구단해안 전망대까지 갖추고 있습니다.

관광 명소가 되면서 차량들이 갯벌로 진입하는 사례가 늘어나자 마을 주민들과 잦은 마찰을 빚고 있습니다.

"조명도 많고 하니까 너무 아름다우니까 그런 분들이 밤에 들어가는 경우가 있습니다."

해안도로 인근 갯벌 3곳도 상황은 비슷합니다.

주민들은 진입 금지 안내판 설치 같은 안전 대책을 요구합니다.

[이중근/경남 사천시 주문마을 이장]
"(갯벌 위는) 돌이니까 들어가서 그런 현상이 생기는데,지에스칼텍스 배구단외부 사람들이 그걸 알아서 될 수 있으면 안내판이 있으면 알고 못 들어갈 것 아닙니까?"

경찰과 소방당국은 “갯벌에서는 차량이 순식간에 고립될 수 있는 만큼,지에스칼텍스 배구단절대로 진입해선 안 된다”고 당부했습니다.
