(서울=연합뉴스) 이재영 기자 = 24일 경기 화성시 일차전지 제조공장 화재와 관련해 환경부는 염소와 황산화물 등 유해화학물질 발생 가능성에 대비하고 있다고 밝혔다.

환경부에 따르면 화재가 발생한 공장은 리튬 외에 톨루엔,월드컵 경기장 동물원메틸에틸론,월드컵 경기장 동물원염화싸이오닐,월드컵 경기장 동물원수산화나트륨 등의 화학물질을 취급했다.

이중 전지 전해액으로 사용되는 염화싸이오닐이 연소하면서 염소와 황산화물,월드컵 경기장 동물원염화수소 등이 발생할 수 있어 모니터링 중이다.

다만 환경부는 불소가 발생할 가능성은 작게 봤다.육불화인산리튬 등 불소가 포함된 리튬 화합물은 이차전지에 주로 사용되고 일차전지에 사용하는 경우는 없기 때문이다.

환경부는 화재 발생 사실을 접수한 뒤 소방당국에 해당 사업장에서 취급하는 화학물질 정보를 제공하고 한강유역환경청 인력을 파견해 지원하고 있다.
