[앵커]

K-POP은 인기에 비해 대규모 전용 공연장이 없어서 실내 체육관 등에서 공연이 열리곤 했는데요.

서울 최초 K-POP 전문공연장인 '서울아레나' 조성 사업이 오늘 착공식을 시작으로 본격 추진됩니다.

전문 공연 시설을 갖춘 서울 아레나가 K-콘텐츠의 중심지가 될지 관심이 쏠리고 있습니다.

박민경 기자가 착공식 현장을 다녀왔습니다.

[리포트]

서울 도봉구 창동차량기지 근처 5만㎡에 달하는 부지입니다.

이곳에 서울 최초의 K-POP 전문공연장인 서울아레나 복합문화시설이 들어섭니다.

최대 2만 8천 명의 관객을 동시 수용할 수 있는 초대형 K-POP 전문공연장부터,로또 1 등 당첨금7천 명이 들어갈 수 있는 중형공연장과 영화관 등 다양한 문화시설이 함께 조성됩니다.

[안재형/서울 도봉구 : "(방문하는) 사람이 되게 많아질 것 같고 여러 상가 같은 거나 먹을 곳도 여러 가지 많이 생길 것 같아서 기대됩니다."]

최첨단 건축음향,로또 1 등 당첨금가변형 무대장치 등 첨단 설비를 갖춘 서울아레나가 2027년 3월 완공되면 연간 250만 명이 찾아올 것으로 전망됩니다.

그동안 K-POP 공연은 전용 시설이 없어 서울 고척돔이나 잠실실내체육관 등 체육시설에서 주로 열렸습니다.

대규모 관객을 수용하기도 어렵고 공연장이 아니어서 음향 시설 등에 아쉬움이 있었습니다.

외국인 관광객이 가장 많이 찾는 서울에 공연장이 생기면서 K-POP 발전에 새로운 계기가 될 것으로 보입니다.

경기도 고양시와 하남시에서도 K-POP 공연장 건립이 추진되고 있어 만성적인 공연장 부족이 해결될지 주목됩니다.
