모듈러 주택이라고 하면 공장에서 제작한 집을 쌓아 짓는 조립식 주택이라고 알려져 있는데요.

영국과 싱가포르 같은 나라에선 빠르고 안전한 주택으로 고층 아파트에도 적용되지만 우리나라에선 크게 선호되지 않았습니다.

최근 모듈러 주택이 기존 공사 현장 문제의 대안으로 주목받으면서 우리나라에서도 고층 대단지 아파트로 확대할 계획이 나오고 있습니다.

크레인이 컨테이너처럼 생긴 박스를 들어 올려 건물 위에 올리자 위에 있던 노동자들이 체결 작업을 진행합니다.

세종시에 건설 중인 7층짜리 모듈러 공공임대주택입니다.

[노태극/LH 스마트하우징 팀장 : "6월에 이제 모듈러 설치에 들어갔는데 전체 416호에 해당하는 모듈러는 6월부터 10월까지 단 4개월이 되지 않은 기간 동안에 모두 완료할 예정입니다."]

모듈러 주택은 공장에서 철제를 이용해 주택의 80%를 완성시킨 뒤 건설 현장으로 옮겨와 조립해 만드는 주택입니다.

콘크리트 벽체를 공장에서 제작해 조립하는 PC 주택과 함께 탈현장건설의 대표적 방식입니다.

하지만 최근 공공주택을 중심으로 모듈러 주택의 고층화와 대단지화 계획이 속속 나오면서 모듈러 단지 아파트의 가능성을 높이고 있습니다.

[오주헌/LH 공공주택본부장 : "금년에는 국내 최고층인 20층 규모의 모듈러 주택을 의왕 초평에 계획하고 있으며,PC 공동주택도 단지화를 추진하고 있습니다."]

LH는 2030년까지 공사 기간 50% 단축과 기존 공법 수준의 공사비 확보 등을 달성해 모듈러 주택을 민간 건설 시장으로까지 확산시킬 계획입니다.
