(파리=연합뉴스) 송진원 특파원 = 2024 파리올림픽의 일부 수영 종목이 열리는 프랑스 파리 센강 수질이 최근 수영에 적합할 정도로 개선됐다고 일간 르파리지앵이 보도했다.

파리시는 4일(현지시간) 지난달 24일∼이달 2일 센강 4개 지점에서 채취한 샘플 분석 결과 대장균과 장구균 농도가 유럽과 수영연맹의 수영 가능 기준에 적합했다고 밝혔다.

유럽연합의 2006년 수질 지침에 따르면 대장균은 100㎖당 최대 900CFU(미생물 집락형성단위,Colony-forming unit),장구균은 100㎖당 330CFU 이하로 검출돼야 수영이 가능하다.

세계수영연맹의 수질 기준상 대장균의 최대 허용치는 100㎖당 1천CFU,2023 kbo 올스타전 명단장구균은 400CFU다.

이 기준을 초과한 물에서 수영할 경우 위장염이나 결막염,2023 kbo 올스타전 명단외이염,2023 kbo 올스타전 명단피부 질환 등에 노출될 위험이 있다.

파리시와 일드프랑스 지방정부가 지난달 초부터 주 단위로 센강 박테리아 분석 조사를 시작한 이래 수영 가능 기준 이하로 세균이 검출된 건 이번이 처음이다.

파리시는 최근 비가 안 온 데다 2016년 이래 꾸준히 이어온 수질 개선 노력 덕분이라고 평가했다.

그동안 센강에서는 기준치 이상의 대장균과 장구균이 검출돼 수영 대회를 치르기에 부적합했다.

최근엔 정부가 센강 정화 작업에 막대한 예산을 쏟아부은 데 대한 불만으로 온라인상에서 '센강에 똥을 싸자'는 위협적인 캠페인까지 벌어져 센강 문제가 더 부각됐다.

센강의 세균 농도가 대회 때까지도 기준치 이하로 유지될지는 날씨에 달렸다.

대회 전 폭우가 쏟아지면 빗물과 폐수가 센강에 섞여 들어 물이 오염될 수 있다.유속이 빨라지는 것도 문제다.당국은 이 경우 대회를 며칠 연기할 수는 있지만 대회 장소를 바꿀 계획은 없다는 입장이다.

센강의 알렉상드르 3세 다리와 알마 다리 구간에서는 이번 올림픽·패럴림픽의 철인 3종 수영 종목과 '수영 마라톤'으로 불리는 오픈 워터 스위밍이 열린다.
