역주행을 하고 사고를 내면서도 멈추지 않던 운전자가 경찰에 붙잡혔습니다만 음주운전인 줄 알았는데 중학생이었습니다.

백승우 기자의 보도입니다.

늦은 밤 승용차 한 대가 길가에 주차돼 있던 화물차를 들이받습니다.

사고 충격에 전조등이 깨진 듯 승용차 한쪽 불빛이 사라집니다.

사고를 내고도 멈추지 않은 차량은 진입해서는 안 되는 일방통행 골목으로 들어섰습니다.

놀란 목격자는 경찰에 신고한 뒤 사고 차량을 뒤따라가기 시작했습니다.

[신고자]
"다른 차나 사람이 피해를 받을 수도 있으니까 경찰에 신고해서 어떻게든 위치는 빨리빨리 알려줘야 이제 피해를 막을 수 있잖아요."

일방통행 길을 거꾸로 달리던 차량은 한참 골목길을 달리더니 이번엔 갑자기 후진하기 시작합니다.

쫓아가던 목격자 차량 쪽으로 계속 다가오더니,에슬롯미 채굴결국 목격자 차량까지 들이받습니다.

그리고는 다시 도망치듯 역주행을 시작했는데 4백미터도 채 못 가 또 주차된 화물차를 들이받았습니다.

이렇게 차량 4대를 계속 들이받으면서도 멈추지 않던 차는 급정차를 반복하고 중앙선도 무시하면서 큰길까지 나갔습니다.

아슬아슬한 운전은 신고를 출동한 경찰에 붙잡힐 때까지 10분가량 더 이어졌습니다.

[신고자]
"딱 보자마자는 처음에 음주인 줄 알았어요.왜냐하면 직진으로 가면 되는 건데 옆에 세워져 있던 차를 그냥 그대로 박아버리니까‥"

그런데 경찰에 잡힌 운전자는 중학교 2학년 남학생이었습니다.

이 학생이 몬 차는 렌터카였습니다.

경찰은 이 학생을 무면허 운전과 사고 후 미조치 혐의로 입건 한 뒤 부모에게 인계했습니다.

경찰은 다른 사람의 면허증을 도용한 것은 아닌지 등 중학생이 렌터카를 빌릴 수 있었던 경위를 조사하고 있습니다.
