현대차와 한국수목원정원관리원,라이더스내일을잡아라사회적기업 트리플래닛은 지속가능한 산림생태복원사업을 위한 업무협약(MOU)을 10일 맺었다.

이번 협약으로 앞으로 5년간 세 기관·기업은 국내 최대 산불 피해를 본 동해안 지역을 중심으로 산림 복원을 추진하고 친환경 숲을 새로 조성하기로 했다.수목원정원관리원은 산림생태계 건전성 회복 등을 목표로 하는 산림청 산하 기관이며 트리플래닛은 나무 심기를 전문으로 하는 사회적 벤처기업이다.

새로 조성하는 숲은 현대차가 2016년부터 하고 있는 친환경 공유가치창출(CSV) 활동 아이오닉 포레스트 프로젝트의 일환이다.산림을 복원하고 모니터링할 때 아이오닉 드론 스테이션을 활용하기로 했다.이 차는 현대차 전기차 아이오닉5를 기반으로 만든 산림경영용 특장차량으로 트렁크 공간에 드론 스테이션을 만들고 차량 앞쪽 프렁크에는 외부 전력공급이 가능한 V2L 기술을 활용해 드론용 배터리 충전 데크를 둔다.

접근이 어려운 산불피해 지역에 드론을 활용해 식재나 산림 생장 과정을 주기적으로 살펴보고 데이터를 모으는 등 다양한 연구 협력이 가능할 것으로 현대차 측은 내다봤다.회사 관계자는 "기후변화 대응 관점에서 국내 최대 산불 피해지 중심의 산림 복원을 추진하고자 했다"라며 "여러 파트너와 함께 친환경을 위한 진정성 있는 노력을 지속하겠다"라고 말했다.

현대차가 9년째 운영하는 친환경 사회공헌 프로그램 아이오닉 포레스트는 인천 수도권 매립지에 미세먼지 방지 숲을 조성하는 사업을 시작으로 시대별 사회 이슈에 대응하는 주제를 정해 숲을 조성하고 있다.해외에서도 하고 있으며 지난해까지 나무 50만그루를 심었고 내년까지 100만 그루를 심는 것을 목표로 한다.
