[헤럴드경제=김현경 기자] 미국의 백화점 체인 삭스피프스애비뉴(Saks Fifth Avenue)의 모회사 HBC가 미국 고급 백화점 체인 니먼마커스그룹(Neiman Marcus Group)을 인수한다.

HBC는 4일(현지시간) 니먼마커스그룹을 26억5000만달러(약 3조6000억원)에 인수하기로 했다고 밝혔다.

양사 합병으로 삭스글로벌이 설립되며 삭스피프스애비뉴(Fifth Avenue),프로야구 드래프트 2차삭스오프피프스(OFF 5th),프로야구 드래프트 2차니먼마커스,프로야구 드래프트 2차버그도프굿맨 등 북미 지역 고급 백화점 브랜드들이 여기에 함께 속하게 된다.

월스트리트저널(WSJ)은 미 최대 전자상거래 업체 아마존이 삭스글로벌의 소수 지분을 인수하고 기술 및 물류 관련 지원을 할 계획이라고 보도했다.

이번 인수는 전자상거래의 확산과 젊은 세대의 이탈로 명품 백화점 업계가 부진을 겪으며 생존 전략을 모색하고 있는 가운데 이뤄졌다.

컨설팅 업체 베인앤드컴퍼니 추산에 따르면 지난해 미국 내 명품 소비는 전년 대비 8% 감소한 것으로 나타났다.

리처드 베이커 HBC 회장은 "지금은 명품 소매업계에 있어 흥미로운 시기"라며 "기술 발전이 고객 경험을 재정의하는 새로운 기회를 창출하고 있다"고 말했다.
